The Chicago Hockey Initiative grew out of friendships formed playing for the Butchers Union men's league hockey team in Chicago, Illinois. Since the team was formed in 2009, several hats, shirts, and other items were produced for teammates and friends. These items are now being sold to benefit the Chicago Hockey Initiative, a registered 501c3. 100% of profits from Butchers Union merchandise sales support Chicago Hockey Initiative programming.
